Chris has spent his entire career building businesses and working with asset managers in Asia and globally. He is passionate about breaking down barriers and bringing diverse people together. He believes research, relationships and innovation are key to success in private markets. Chris is a recognized thought leader and active private investor with over 20 years in investments and transaction experience.
Prior to the launch of Thrive, Chris was a Global Partner and Head of Asia at Eaton Partners, where he worked closely with Thrive’s other co-founders to build one of the leading GP advisory and fund placement platforms in Asia. Earlier in his career, Chris was a Managing Principal at Mercer Street Capital, an independent investment and advisory firm with operations in the U.S., China, and Vietnam. Chris began his career at Citigroup and its predecessor firms, Salomon Brothers and Smith Barney, where he became the firm’s first investment banking expatriate based in Mainland China and played a key role in building the Asia Pacific Financial Institutions Group. Before joining Thrive in an executive capacity, Chris was a Managing Partner at MSA Capital, a global investment firm, where he led strategy and business development.
Chris received an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA from Tufts University. He also completed the joint China Senior Executive Leadership Program of Tsinghua SEM, CEIBS and Harvard Business School. He is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and a Kauffman Fellow.
Chris was born and raised just outside of New York City, but has spent most all of his adult years in China having moved there over 25 years ago. He has travelled to over 50 countries and has done business in over half of them. Still, his favourite place is at home in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters.
